Construction Process
I modified a black shirt to add panels out of yellow fabric. Because the panels needed to stay symmetrical to maintain the shape of the black negative space between them, I created a custom ‘wrap’ that I wore underneath. It attached in the back with hooks and has padding on the sides, to fill out the curves of my body and make it more straight, so the panels don’t curve as much.
I used my actual daily-wear prescription glasses to create the character’s 3D glasses, by cutting out translucent plastic from red and blue 3-ring notebook dividers. The colored plastic pops into the frames in front of the lenses, can easily be removed when it’s time to return to normal glasses, and allowed me to see with my prescription while still wearing the costume.
